Tid Bits

One of my very favorite sayings is “God is in the details”… I’m not sure who said it and mean no disrespect for not giving credit here…it just truly underlies my whole existence, so I had to include it.

For me, designing jewelry and working with semi-precious stones is the most rewarding career I’ve ever taken on.  I’m literally surrounded with God’s love of beauty. It’s been told to me that God loves beauty so much that He decorated Heaven with gold and gems and then placed them here on earth for us to discover and enjoy. I believe that He not only gifted us with an immense variety of gemstones, but just look around you…there are thousands of types of animals, fish, birds, butterflies and tiny living creatures…all of them continuously boggle my comprehension.

I have salt-water tanks. Every day I sit in front of them and stare at the creatures and coral life in absolute awe. I take it all in and get swept away by the thought of the immense creativity and endless sense of humor it must have taken to create, one by one every creature and their many moving parts.  Just when it seems I’ve seen it all, I view something new and breathtaking and learn from this amazing little universe encased in glass.

I enjoy making beautiful things with God’s gift of gems. I feel blessed to be able to contribute to women in a way that accentuates their own beauty with the handy work of God.

No, its not every stone I choose to work with, but it’s pretty thorough. I have no claim to what the stones are said to mean, as I acquired every word in this section from more than ten sources and chose to share the high lights with you.  This section is meant to entertain you…I’m an artist, so my intension is to inspire or cause a spark, not necessarily to be the teacher of all things metaphysical.

Please enjoy what you read and take with you what you find valuable.

Cleaning Sterling Silver Jewelry    I do not recommend any of the instant liquid cleaners “AS SEEN ON TV”. These cleaners give you instant gratification and a piece of very shiny silver in seconds after you dip…but almost as instantly, you will have an even more tarnished mess on your hands!  Please trust me when I tell you, I know from experience and I’m the master of learning everything ‘the hard way’.

A jewelry polishing cloth and some good old-fashioned elbow grease is the very best way to clean and care for your silver.

Storing Your Jewelry    When you recieve your RockCandy jewelry, inside the pretty wrapping I have enclosed a zip lock bag...this bag is not an accident, it is actually the best way to store your piece. Air Tight. Air is the element that tarnishes the silver. Tarnish is basically oxidized dirt, fingerprints and oils from your skin. If you choose not to use the little baggy, just be sure to store your jewelry in an air tight drawer or special non-tarnishing box.
