This is my family...Macey & Jake.
To say that my life could have any joy without them would be a lie. At seven months old, when she was given to me, Macey was the love of my life. I claimed her sight unseen, when a friend asked if I knew anyone who wanted a Boxer puppy. She showed up at the door, and to return the favor of a home, she claimed me as her human and loved me with that incredible unconditional love only a dog can give. I think, over the course of her 14+ year life, she took better care of me than I could ever do for her. She took the road trips and a few plane rides and wore what ever I asked...as long as she was included, all is well. She showed me the meaning of commitment, and did it all with that ear-to-ear Macey smile.
Bubba, (who was named Jake before I got him), is my four year old banana bandit*.
I laugh as I write this because I think he's the only dog that doesn't age seven years for every one of ours. He's such a child...to think he's going on thirty, huh, there's no way!
He was an amazing husband to Macey...he cared for her in ways that took my breath away. These days, he's really coming into his own and has become such a brave protector. I say that laughingly, because he's a bigger pansy than butch...but he has a very ferocious bark and in our world, it keeps the boogey-man away so that's what counts!!
If you look up the meaning of Boxer-Mom, there you will see my face, along with my smiling kids of course!
(*banana bandit: can eat nearly ten bananas in one invasion...peels & stems and all).
